The Center for Work, Technology & Organization (WTO) is a research center dedicated to studying work and its interplay with organizations and technologies.
Stanford’s Department of Management Science & Engineering founded the WTO to promote research about work and technology in organizations. Our aim is to help fill gaps in our theoretical and applied knowledge on how work is changing and how to design more effective organizations and technologies.

All of our studies have managerial and practical implications. We teach executives and managers how to use these insights in how they manage change. We also talk to policy makers about how laws and policies need to evolve to keep up with the changing nature of work to provide economic security for the workforce
