Nick is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University.
RESEARCH AREA: Organization, Technology & Entrepreneurship
Nick Russell’s research is focused on how innovation organizational forms and technology are affecting the work of engineers and designers, with a specific focus on crowdsourcing and co-creation. He is also interested in the growth and professionalization of social media influencers. He is specifically interested in the proliferation of niche expression, the way practices have diffused through the community of influencers, and the way influencers manage multiple algorithmically mediated monetization mechanisms. Nick holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University, summa cum laude. Nick worked for two years in the manufacturing industry in a variety of roles and for one year as an engineering consultant, serving clients in the energy distribution industry.
